 Previously known as Office 365, or simply Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365 is a suite of tools for everyday use, and includes software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint, to name a few.  

Microsoft 365 features both online applications, which can be accessed via the internet, as well as desktop applications, which can be downloaded to your computer. Depending on which plan you have, you may or may not have access to these desktop applications.

Why Microsoft 365?

Microsoft 365 is one of the most commonly used software suites, meaning most [areas] will recognise and be compatible with Microsoft file types. The vast array of software also allows information and documents to be easily and quickly shared between users.

What’s included in Microsoft 365*

Here’s some examples of software you may find yourself using.

Applications

Word – word-processing application

Excel – spreadsheet application

PowerPoint – presentation application

Teams – chat and call application, use to quickly organise, communicate and share documents with others, integrates with SharePoint

Outlook – mail application, integrates with calendar

OneDrive – files management application, can access all files that are accessible to you

 

Services

SharePoint Online – storage, sits behind every Microsoft 365 application (excluding Outlook) and manages your shared data

 Exchange – storage for Outlook specifically
