1. What do you spend most of your time doing at Symcar?

I mean I can think of one quite simple answer here.

[Go on]

Working.

[laughter]

[More than that]

Helpdesk, mainly. Customer tickets.

[Two or three quick typical tickets?]

Email set up. Printer set ups. Password changing. Those are the three standards that you see the most of.

Build-desk as well. That’s usually my domain.

[What do you do on the build-desk? What is it?]

Yeah, customers might not necessarily know about it, coz it’s only for us in the office, really. It’s a desk where, if your PC comes to our office, it ends up on that desk being looked at.

What else? Oh, backups. There’s always some computer doing backups. We backup any machine that ever goes on that desk before they get any work done on them.

2. What do you spend most of your time doing outside of work?

Gaming.

I play a lot of shooters so Counterstrike, Rainbow Six. I’m playing Skyrim at the moment. Grand Theft Auto is another one I’ve been playing recently.

Sometimes I go out cycling. Not as much as I should be doing.

3. Pet peeve at work?

I think I have the pet peeves for everyone else. I like to throw stuff and fiddle with stuff and I know people get very annoyed about that.

 [laughter]

Faraday does a thing where he puts tennis balls all around and I like to throw them for him which he likes. We occupy each other.

I think he knows that at this point coz he always bothers me coz he knows I’m gonna throw it for him whereas everyone else just ignores him.

I don’t really have any pet peeves-

Actually, no. One

The fact that no one has sugar in their tea or coffee, that kinda annoys me a little bit. Symon and Peter, neither of them have sugar in their tea so there’s no sugar in the office.

[laughter]

[I shall make sure there’s sugar in the cupboard for you]

4. Favourite part of the job?

Learning something new.

It’s fun to get to play with new things or learn something new. The day-to-day stuff is, like any job… it’s the day-to-day stuff y’know. So the new stuff that comes round, that’s exciting.

New kit, new customers. Anything new.

5. When you wake up in the morning, what three words would best describe how you aim to be that day?

I think one of my mugs has three words on it that would describe that quite well.

[Go on.]

“Get sh*t done.”

Those are three words to start your day by.

[laughter]

[I like that]
